With the launch of Glossier shipping to the UK this morning, I thought it was apt to share with you what I bought whilst I was in NYC and my first impressions of the products!
Probably more useful now because you can finally get your hands on it! Plus they have 10% off your first order and free shipping over £25 at the moment! So what are you waiting for? The pink pouches are adorable fyi.
First, a little bit about Glossier. For those of you who aren’t on Instagram as much as me… Glossier is a revolutionary beauty brand set up by Emily Weiss, the founder of cult beauty blog – IntoTheGloss. With features such at ‘The Top Shelf‘, sharing the routines of some of the most influential women, you can see why people became obsessed.
Glossier is all about “real girls, in real life”. It’s a new beauty movement that contrasts the perfectly preened people of Instagram for the last few years. It’s all about being fun, simple, glowy and obssessed with millenial pink. But most importantly, they put skin first, and make-up second.
Glossier’s thing is having glowing, dewy skin. So after reading many reviews, I got the things people seem to be obssessed with. The easiest way to try a few things out, plus save some £ was buying the Phase 1 Set, which consists of the Milky Jelly Cleanser, the Priming Moisturiser and a Balm DotCom of your choice (i picked birthday). So far, the cleanser is great at taking all traces of makeup off, but I find it a bit drying. The moisturiser is a good base of makeup. And the balm feels and tastes amazing!
I also got one of the Super Pure serums for breakouts and the Moon Mask to soothe. The serum is quite strong so I wouldn’t use it everyday, but the mask really does make your skin feel instantly softer.
Akin to the skin set, I also got the Phase 2 Set which includes the Glossier make-up favourites: Stretch Concealer (dark), Boy Brow (black) and Generation G (crush). The concealer is quite sheer so it doesn’t cover dark circles and does need powdering, the brow gel is amazing and natural and the matte lipstick gives just enough colour for daytime.
One of their newest releases is the Wowder Duo, a lightly coloured powder that sets makeup, blurs imperfections and reduces shine – whilst maintaining that glow. And I really like it, the brush can be a bit dense but works well for on-the-go. But the powder itself is great for setting under eyes and t-zones.
Obviously, I haven’t used the products for long, so these are first impressions. I think I had a breakout to something – possibly the serum. But hopefully in a month I’ll have a better idea or what works.
I’d also recommend the Body Hero products – because they smelt amazing, I just didn’t have enough suitcase capacity at the time!
A couple of other buys from New York! I got this new L’Oréal Lash Paradise mascara, which I am loving at the moment. It’s super black, volumising and holds a curl. And, I also stepped into the madness of Sephora, to only repurchase some hair products: Living Proof Healthy Hair Dry Shampoo and the Oaui Texturising Spray. Both do what they say pretty well on my hair and were cheaper in the US.
Plus, I picked up this white tee by Billy, because we all know that I love collecting white t-shirts that fit perfectly.
That’s pretty much everything I got from my trip to NYC and happy shopping on Glossier!
