top ten podcasts

Oops… well that regularity didn’t last!

After finishing my (one) exam, moving back to London and starting work… I’ve had little opportunity (or motivation) to post. Mostly because my free time is spent sleeping and eating. But, I am trying to make a come back!

I’ve been listening to a lot of podcasts lately; when I’m cleaning, shopping, commuting and about to sleep! Over the past year, I’ve found a solid few that I’m slightly obsessed with. So here are my top 10:

1. Serial by This American Life
Whose podcast journey didn’t start with Serial? Back in 2014, everyone was obsessed with Sarah’s investigation of a high school murder from Baltimore, 1999. It’s truly gripping and leads to most people binging until they reveal the killer… Season 1 is great, Season 2 was a bit slow though.

2. Call Your Girlfriend by Aminatou Sow and Ann Friedman
‘A podcast for long distance besties everywhere’ is their punchline. This weekly podcast is addictive, full of politics, problems, periods and pop culture – there’s a bit of everything.  Their brutally honest and feminist, which makes for a refreshing listen. I’d recommend listening from the beginning if you want to understand all the jokes – i.e. ony referring to Trump as ‘Ivanka’s Dad’.

3. Pop Fashion by Kaarin and Lisa
Another weekly podcast that discusses the latest ups and downs of the fashion industry. From mergers and acquisition news, to strange trends and (scandalous) fashion crimes, it’s a well curated weekly update for anyone interested in the industry – plus some super catchy jingles!

4. These 4 Walls by ASOS
This one is hosted by ASOS Magazine writers, Annie and Shannon. It’s an easy listen which reports on new trends, what people working at ASOS are wearing, chatting about new events/exhibitions and includes some entertaining games!

5. UnStyled by Refinery29
A occassional podcast hosted by the Global Editor-In-Chief & Co-founder of Refinery29, Christene Barberich. She interviews some inspiring ladies about their work and lives, and how their outfits choices have been intertwined with critical points.

6. Fashion No Filter by Camille Charriere and Monica Ainley
A fairly new podcast, fashion journalists Camille Charriere and Monica Ainley provide a unique perspective of the fashion industry from years behind the scenes. Subjects include, Instagram v real life, the role of models, street style photography and what men really think of fashion. Each episode is about half an hour – ideal for a commute. Plus, I could listen to Camille’s perfect English in a French accent all day!

7. My Dad Wrote A Porno by James, Jamie and Alice
With dozens of celebrity fans, including Adele, who hasn’t heard of it? This is a truly laugh-out-loud podcast that you shouldnt listen to in public, unless you want people to look at you strangely laughing to yourself in the pasta aisle. Jamie Morton reads a chapter of his dad’s awful porno, alongside his friends James Cooper and Alice Levine. Trust me, Belinda is amazing.

8. The Deliciously Stella Podcast by Bella Younger
Another hilarious podcast, which takes on the bullshit clean eating trend. Bella Younger started Deliciously Stella as a satirical Instagram page, which then turned into this popular podcast. She interviews friends and discusses the first-world problems of young millennials – eating clean, getting married, turning 30 and having their shit together – or not….

9. At Home With… by Lily Pebbles and Anna Gardner
Sight bias here – I’m obsessed with Lily and Anna, they’re very genuine people and produce great content on YouTube and Instagram. In their brand new podcast, they visit the homes of women they admire and ask questions we would all love to – how they got their jobs, what’s in their fridges, what beauty products they can’t live without.  Having a nose around their beautiful homes provides some insight into their fascinating lives. Make sure you listen on acast for the interior photos.

10. Ctrl Alt Delete by Emma Gannon
A weekly podcast filled with brilliant conversations with guests who reflect on how the internet and social media has changed their lives, and what lessons they’ve learned along the way. Interviewees include, Sali Hughes, Lilly Singh, Melissa Hemsley, Lena Dunham and many more! – #girlbosses

So those are my top 10 – not in any particular order! Let me know if you have any other recommendations and happy listening to everyone!

much love
